Love this poem almost as much as I hate cigars and their smoke. You commented so sweetly on mine while I was reading yours-we were on the same page almost.
ReplyDeleteA sense of realization and longing pervades this poem making it alive and familiar.
@ Butterflies of time
ReplyDeleteThank you.. It is my pleasure to recieve such a sweet comment from you..

The line placement made me take notice.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting metaphor - I'll need to think about it.
Interesting analogy, between two lovers and the cigarette and its smoke, and others.
ReplyDeleteNice read.
:)
Blasphemous Aesthete
Wonderful analogy :)
ReplyDeleteHope the fire comes back to the cigarettes once forever!
Keep writing...
Well, as The Mask would say, "Smokin'" :D Nice poem, SiS!
ReplyDeleteNon smoker, but I loved the poem :)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant metaphor.
ReplyDeletelove is like fire. when you lose it, you lose hope. welcome back.
Thanks for the acceptance.
let me know a poet you wish to nominate for week 45.
Lots of neat imagery and metaphors here. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. The use of the refrain was extremely effective. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteThe Lonely Recluse.
Where there's love, there's fire,
ReplyDeleteWhere there's hope, there's desire,
Where there's poetry,there's love,
I think you included all of the above.
Brilliant! The interplay of frustration, want, and cigarette smoke is truly marvelous!
ReplyDeletebeautiful words...
ReplyDeletedreams gone in smoke
that only you could stoke.
While I don't smoke I definitely connected with the poem. Great metaphor
ReplyDeleteWell done.. SiS.. loved it.. man..

ReplyDeleteDo hope that love isn't as dangerous as smoking! (:
ReplyDeleteHey I am glad to give you 'stylish blogger award'. Here it is!
ReplyDeleteActually it kind of makes me want a cigarette.
ReplyDeleteIt's the destruction and pain in our relationships that we cherish after they're over.
When you have metaphored a 'you' character with a cigarette, there is no way of quitting, is there?
ReplyDeleteYou had me at... "come on my idiot"!
ReplyDeleteLoved this -- glad I stopped by!
You put a smile on my face SIS.
ReplyDeleteI like it.

I like the imaginary of the person being a cigarette. Nice poem!
ReplyDeleteThats the way it should be...mad, crazy, forgiving, passionate without any knots and that only will give you an experience that is out of the world and satisfying for both...you words and line resonates with the beauty of sheer passion and un-bounding desire to get lost within yourselves.
ReplyDeleteso creative and clever! another butt to wipe, cigarette's :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent take on smoking!
ReplyDeleteAwesome poem, I really like the repetition of that line. Also you make it sound as if you're in love with the cigarette and it is avoiding you. Excellently done!
