To Your Mighty Pen

Looking over the limitless sky
and the clouds passing by
In that fleeting moment
I realized life's secret endowment

Season changes and mood swings
With the setting sun rests the bird's wings
The horizon converge to close its eyes
Draping the black blanket it winks and sighs

The moon then wraps to wake sun up to see
Birds taking another flight and so do we
Time falls short for us to give love and receive
Only if we could learn from the nature to believe

An entrance is only possible after an exit
Keep patience until it turns and exhibit
Things broken apart would come together
Flaunt your mighty pen. May come whatever

I Say Of RED Without Saying RED At All

Few Miles turned five on October 20, 2014. It was indeed a special day in my life and I wanted to celebrate it in a grand way. Even I had so many plans in my mind, but the situation I was in, demanded me to postpone the plans. As time passed by, I thought of dropping the plan, but they very thought of it hurt me. That was when one of my close friends, pinged me on messenger, and spoke to me about guest posts. “Guest posts” it made me think, so I invited a few of my blogging friends to write guest posts on the theme “Five”, and they graciously accepted my invite. Starting today, there will be a series of guest posts, from the Kings and Queens of blog-o-sphere.

Today’s guest writer believes friendship is the best relationship in this world. Her simplicity in thoughts, words and behavior, makes her my sweetest “Little One”. She has a great passion for writing poetry, and I am sure that she has inherited this talent from her Grandmother. She feels writing is the best way of expressing emotions powerfully. She writes a blog named “My Friendship”, where she pours down her thoughts and feelings, especially about nature, love, relationships and friendship. Besides writing, she loves doing photography and cooking.

Okay, without further ado, let me welcome Simran Kaur of My Friendship to pen down her thoughts. The stage is all yours!

There are a few things you feel yourself associated with. It can be any person or a name or may be a line that sticks to don't leave your brain. You count 'that thing' every time in whatever you do and try best to link it as a reason. Since the time I discovered that my lucky number is 7, I started noticing if all good happens with this number or not. To my surprise, it proved to be a good luck to me. I feel extremely confident when I find this number with me.

There is a color that she has seen in her thick and thin days of life. The first time she noticed it on her mother's forehead ; a bindi. Many a times she would try to touch it take off from her forehead to play. As she started walking on her own, every morning when her mother adorn herself with bindi, a pinch of sindoor and bangles; she used to sit by her side and stare at her resplendent beauty. When she turned fifteen, for the first time she didn't see but felt this beautiful color. The color of love. She was ecstatic to see her lipstick mark on his cheek when they had kissed for the first time. She glowed and blushed even more seeing herself in the mirror. It was the biggest and most special event of her life - their marriage. She was fortunate that even the rituals adhere to this color and she felt the most happiest person on this planet wearing her bridal dress. On that day, she saw a beautiful reflection of her mother in herself. She loved adorning herself over and over again. For now, she had own a right and a strong reason to use it.

Life is uncertain and so its instances; unpredictable!

She silently shed tears of blood on a wintry night when he lashed her hard in the name of making love. For the first time she found this color so unwanted and rancor. She wonder as she finds the same color in various moods and meanings. The color of his rage and Santa's dress is the same. Then, why do one shatter all her dreams and the latter fills her with hope and happiness when she look at it? Like he feat with the elves who make the toys in the workshop she wish him to come on his sleigh from all the way with his flying reindeer to bestow her the lost spring of her life and the positive mood of the color that his coat and trousers bring to her.

Thank you so much Little One for writing the first post of the guest post series. It was my pleasure to have you here. And to my dear readers, thank you so much for reading! Okay here is a contest for the readers, all you need to do is to guess the next guest writer. The person with the maximum number of correct guesses will win a FlipKart Voucher. Clue is "He is a published author and writes beautifully in his Inc!" See you tomorrow! Stay Tuned!

An Unknown Relation Became A Special Relation

Beep... Beep... Beep...!

The alarm clock buzzing struck at 6:30 am. Lying in my bed in somnolent I opened one of my eyes, poked on the alarm clock and drown back to sleep again.

After a minute or so …

''Suhani, Are you still in bed? Get up sweetheart, you’re getting late! It’s already 6:35 am and by 7:00 am you've to reach to the bus stop. (Said my mother patting continuously on my back.)
I hate to go school Mum. Why they’re timed this early? Let me sleep please!

Don’t talk crazy, today it’s your English test and I don’t want to listen any complain from Miss Radhika. You've to score more than Sanjana. You’ll, Am sure. (said Mum to make me realize the stiffness of competition)
I am preparing your breakfast. Come down fast I’m waiting there on the table.

I came out of my room while muttering something to myself and rubbing my hands carelessly in tangled hairs. Every day I stand midst mesmerize to see my grandmother. She is too old. Have wrinkles from everywhere to everywhere, her tied locks of grey hairs, eyes closed and lips engage in enchanting prayer, sitting in a straight posture. The contentment and peace on her face a serenity calms me down and that’s how my day begins.

I touched grandma’s feet and greeted her, Satsriakal Bebbe (''bebbe'' in Punjabi we use to give respect to elderly lady)
She blessed me and kissed on my forehead
I walked on wheels and within 15 minutes I was ready for the school.
Bye Bebbe, please do pray for me. Love you!
Hi Sanjana, are you prepared well for the test?
Yes, but I am afraid how would be the questions. Are you?
Yes, I am ready too but not as nervous as you’re

Bebbe says, ''There is a possibility of everything but only when you tend to make it so with true efforts . ''Your efforts determines the part you deserve.''

Hey sweetheart, welcome home! How was your day? Hope you did well in test.
Yes Mum, I did my best and I am not worried how would be the result, Bebbe told me ''Try the best you can without caring of what would be the result because being true to yourself shall never let you stop or loose Hope. You know the efforts you made were true and will never go in vain''

I hoped Mum would agree to what grandma said but she said nothing!
I've made your favorite ‘Rajama Chawal’
Mumma you’re the best ( I said while hugging Mum tightly )
Oops! I forgot to inform you baby, you friend Shreya has invited you on her birthday party today.
Birthday party! Wow!!(I said with enthusiasm)
But have dance classes today and have got much home work to complete (I said in a dismay)
Don’t worry today you’re allowed to skip your dance class and I’ll help you in completing your home work when you’re back.
OK Mum! (Said I with excitement)
Here’s your pink frock, see I've got pink color hair band, clips and white belly. Mumma knows well I love fancy. I dressed up like a princess.

Bebbe, Main kive lag ri haan? (How’s I am looking?)
Bohot soni lag ri ve , nazar na lage mera sona puttar! Jaldi aa jaien (you’re looking so beautiful, God bless you!And come back in time)
Haan ji Bebbe (OK Grandma)

We all have a busy life or in better words personal lives that confine all of us within our known boundary, no matter who you are, your fringe is limited at the edge only. I am close to only two members in my family. One is my dear Papa, who usually has trips to different countries because of his profession and so as to earn bread and butter to fulfill all our desires. Whenever he come home without wasting my single minute…

Papa, what you've brought for me??
Pencils, colors, chocolates, dolls?
I've got all of them for you puttar ji.

He finds his happiness within mine. Papa is close to my heart not just because he fulfill all my wants but because he is the only one with whom I can share my problems and can get ultimate best solutions.

The second person close to my heart is Grandma. Though I don’t talk to her much or express my love but there is a special place for her in my heart. Where everyone is busy in the world of their own to sort out their problems, I see my grandma in the rarest of rare sitting at a place preaching God in silence.

We don’t tell her about the problems going on so as to not to make her worry yet she perceives the matters clearly. She has great intellect and instinct.

The fast and modern life of today where everyone do race to chase for their crave for materialistic things and a blind race to prove individual's supreme distresses her where little things have become even littler. Those little things actually belong to peace of mind, satisfaction, kindness and spirituality.

She would ask me to sit beside her and on Sundays we together sing Bhajans (Holy songs)

''रोम रोम में तुम्ही हो हरजी
रोम रोम तुम्हारा है
मैं तो बस एक बुत हूँ हरजी
स्पंदन तुम्हारा है
सभी जीवों के तुम्ही हो सृष्टा
तुम्ही से जीवनधारा है
निर्मल को तुम्ही बल देते
तू सबका पालनहार है’’

I observe each of her activities and words closely. She has a nature to react and correct immediately if one is doing wrong. Every now and then she tells what should be done and how should be done but never impose her decisions on us.

''My whole life had been full of sacrifices and I am satisfied that I followed my heart and instincts.''(said she while sharing her life experiences with the guests who come to our home)

''Follow your instincts. That's where true wisdom manifests itself''

It wasn't she wanted to sing of those moments she is proud of but she believed this would help people of today’s generation to lead their entire life in a better way with comprehension, cognizance and holiness.

They all listen to her, agree, some ponder over but never implement.

Whenever Grandma speaks of her life experiences I sit in a corner and listen her. Though I’m too little to understand her thoughts exactly yet I listen her with keen interest and try best to understand the meanings. I found them inspiring and thoughtful, realized when I was growing up! I got occupied with my higher studies. Already there used to be less of my and Grandma's conversation but now it had totally ceased.

Grandma’s health was degrading day by day, her speech unclear; she did not speak or eat anything. I was called!
One day when I came into her room to give her tablets, she ignored to have them. I was worried and asked her,
''Ki gal hai Bebbe, please tussi jidd na karo hunn’’ (What happened Grandma? please don't behave obstinate)
Nai puttar hun mein puri hon ja ri haan (No, my child I am going to die). She realized her end was near.
Meri ek gal yaad rakkhin (Remember my words)

She held me close and said
''The satisfaction of mind cannot be ample by the money but it can be procured with the light of knowledge in heart and mind.''

I found she wasn't able to open her eyes, unconscious and told her vision was getting blurred.
I shouted my family members for the help but by then we found she wasn't anymore. There was still the same contentment on her face. I cried within my heart as wanted to spend more time with Grandma but soon her words made me strong

When we get so much of love, we are at the top of the world and get madly blind within its sweetness! But when we realize that there is no one to love, we mourn over it!’’
''It's only our hunger or eagerness to grab the happiness, the main reason behind our pain and cries... This truth is totally unknown! The one who sows this excitement within is prone to it's loss. This is all the reality.''

There was an unknown relation between her giving and my receiving. Those strong soulful words said by Grandma associated an unknown relation of wisdom and self realization that became so special unbreakable till the eternity.

A Sweet Milestone

This wind you think of, thus blows by me
I walk t'is dream burning fair - on asphalt.
See her with delight, but soft and lone thee
Cross'd path the night, amidst I listen alt,
neath the wide volumes, turn my soul inside.
Slips by the oversight, stumbled by the fall
Passion that hides, richer said than words soft
She maketh unseen color, My youth painted
Walked by my unconscious, juvenile mind
Count the hours: daylight, fair moon arise,
Then I shalt see thee, with my impatient eyes
Ti's day shalt rise fair, my eyes intent thy.
I have walked this asphalt: lone and forlorn
I wouldst walk afar, A few more, endless miles...

P.S. Few Miles completed 3 years today!
I tried molding Few Mile's journey and the Sentiments through my choicest words.

Thank you Sarav.

A memorable online shopping experience madness!

“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it” – says Paulo Coelho. I agree!

It’s not every day you find someone whom you can befriend with. When you find someone precious, you cannot miss him or her in your life. He or she may be younger or older to you, fair or dark to your eyes, near or far from where you live, or whatever, still they are precious as your friend or sometime you cannot tag a label, and you so wanted to gift him or her as a gift, for what and who they are to you. I have a few close to my heart but she is a special one, actually a little one, with whom I share a special bond – a precious invisible bond to bind us! She is such a sweetie!

In early days, people used dove to send very small gifts and as a messenger; in 80’s, people used telegram for sending short messages, and posts for sending small gifts, before a decade back people bought gifts for their precious ones and couriered them. A few years back, people found a solution for their problems and tagged it as ‘Online Shopping’ – The one stop solution for all your needs! They named the solution as ‘eBay’, ‘FlipKart’, ‘snapdeal’, ‘Qvendo’, ‘Pringoo’, etc. I love the second and third always, as I’d my best experience with them. If online shopping was not there, I’d not have been able to gift ma sweet one. In fact, that’s my first real online shopping experience after Pringoo, which my friend did on behalf of me – a sweet memorable experience :)

This incident happened thirteen months ago, and all thanks to Mohinee of Gurukripa for hosting Grand Patriotic Poetry contest and inviting to judge the contest! It was a fantastic experience to judge the contest with poetic greats. Glad and blessed to judge an entry by Aadarneeya Ms. Swarna Kaurji and it is none other than the Grandmother of my little one! As I promised during the initial announcement, I wanted to send gifts, but how can I send gifts to Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh? I wondered!

That’s when my roommate introduced FlipKart. It sounded like Greek and Spanish to me! ‘What? How? Are you sure?’ Puzzled I was, and the solution was simple. In fact, I was amazed by the collection they had under each category and variety. I learnt about the best deals, offers and what not – Online shipping itself is the best gift invented by a human for humans!

Quickly, I browsed the catalogue of books and selected books of my choice keeping Grandma in mind. I added the books, “Gitanjali - Rabindranath Tagore”, “My Experiments With Truth : An Autobiography - Mahatma Gandhi”, “Anna Hazare - The Fakir Who Moved A Country” and “Love On The Rocks - Ismita Tondon Dhanker” to my cart and checked out for payment. I found two options for payment and I’d to choose Online Payment :( My hands shivered to make an online payment and I had no other choice :( so I did make an online payment after confirming for the umpteenth time about the integrity of the site with my friend. Still I was not convinced, so I took a screen shot of the same for my reference and emailed little one too :)

Click here to view an enlarged image

I was so worried about the quality of the products, though it was books and it has to be delivered to Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. A week had gone by peeping into my laptop for an email from Little One, but finally, it took ten days to reach Gorakhpur. I was the happiest man in the world to know that the books reached them in very good condition and Little One, her Parents and Grandma were happy, a lot in fact.

But what made the experience so memorable was the reaction of Little One and Grandma. The below text was taken from Little One’s Blog post.

I'm sharing here so late almost after 3 months about my so special gift I received from my Special One, Saravana! There was a Grand Patriotic Poetry Contest organised by dear friend Mohinee. In this contest, I submitted my Sweet Granny's poem हित अपने देश का. And when the result declared my granny and me started dancing with excitement because her poem was selected the best by Someone is Special! Then I lived that moment brought happiness to her. I saw something that I'd never seen before... tears in her eyes! But they were of joy, excitement and satisfaction. She has been writing poetry from so many years but they were compiled in a diary with no reader until I publish them on my blog. Now she has great talented readers here so she gets so eager to make me post them as soon as possible. All of yours appreciating and encouraging words have made her to pen down poetry again she skipped years before! I want to give a big thanks to Mohinee for organizing such a wonderful contest and to my Special One, Saravana for honoring my granny with such wonderful gifts.

image courtesy - Simran Kaur of My Friendship

This might not have had happened if Online Shopping was not there. All thanks to Online Shopping for helping to strengthen a pure unfading sweet relationship in the world with my Little One, which cannot be named! I can cherish this memory forever!

I thank BlogAdda for organizing the contest Moment of Madness, for selecting my post as one of the winning post, for offering a gift voucher to shop from Pringoo, which ultimately was my first online shopping (seeing) experience and also for organizing this contest, which has created an opportunity to share a sweet incident happened in my life. I’m wishing hoping to do a memorable online shopping from snapdeal.com as well :)

This post is a part of the contest at BlogAdda.com in association with Snapdeal.com

I’m happy to say that with this post I’ve completed 300* posts. Wow! For the first time, I am penning down my own milestone post, and I am super happy to pen it, yah, happy!

As most of you know my sweet journey started with the poem, “First Waters”, and later (LEO - 100) & (Jingle - 200), (Simran Kaur, Geeta Singh and Mohini Purnaik - 250) honoured me with their guest post and I heartily thank them for sharing their words :-)

Every time I used to invite my fellow writers to write a guest post but this time I did not, instead I requested one of my granny to write few words for me in general and the result is here.

In Hindi...

दोहा -

In English...

Doha -

1. The satisfaction of mind cannot be ample by the money but it can be procured with the light of knowledge in heart and mind.

2. When we get so much of love, we are at the top of the world and get madly blind within its sweetness! But when we realize that there is no one to love, we mourn over it!

3. It's only our hunger or eagerness to grab the happiness, the main reason behind our pain and cries... This truth is totally unknown! The one who sows this excitement within is prone to it's loss... This is all the reality..

Thanks for the light grandma, “Swarn Kaur”, Grandma of Simran Kaur ~ My Friendship.

Wish - I wish to write more and more poems as well as creative fictions with proper grammar (trying to) from my heart, hopefully! Also to publish my novel soon.. Let’s see... Fingers crossed... What else??? Yeah... Party time.........

Here we go.. Enjoy the Champagne... Join the party... Shower your blessings as comments or share the word to the world to enjoy the words..

~Second Sweet Milestone~

Special things have their own great values and today are something really so special for my friend, someone is Special a.k.a Saravana, celebrating his 2nd Blog Anniversary. I want to congratulate you on this sweet success. May you have  many more beautiful blogging years to come. Happy Blogging!

Words from our Day's Special One..

It is five in the morning; the climate is very chill here in London and I am very excited! I am so so happy because 20 October 2011 was one of those special days in my life and the reason is simple, today my blog turns two year old. Wow! Two years!! 730 days! 17520 hours of blogging! I am at the top of the world. Do I have words to express my words of joy? Hmmm I dunno but I want to thank my close friend because of her motivating words I entered into this beautiful world and my dream angel for inspiring me to write romantic words.

She chose pendownmythought, I chose Few Miles as the blog name, on 19 October 2009, I created this blog, and on 20 October 2009, I published the poem “First Waters” to start my journey of ‘Few Miles’. I would say the journey was bittersweet in my early days that made me depressed but my close friend helped me to overcome it and advised me to face the critics with confidence because they are the stepping-stones for success.

Thereafter the journey has experienced so many sweet moments. Few of them are BlogAdda’s Moments of Madness win, Leo Guest Post (100), Celebrate Poet of Awards, BlogJunta Editor Choice,  Verdict & Great Debaters win, Ji’s Guest Post (200), Success of Haiku Challenge, Blog M win, Blog-a-Ton win, IndiBlogger wins, Guest Post (250) – (Mohini, Geeta and Simran), searching her.. series and many.

I thank God for blessing such sweet moments in this journey. I also have a big list to thank and it starts from Leo, Jingle, Zainab, Scribbling Gal, Brian, G-Man, Amity, Vibz, Nanka, Bikram, Simran, Mohinee, Dreamy Girl, Jamie, Rachana, Cloud Nine, Deepika, and all my friends for your constant encouragement. I might have missed many names here in the list but all of you are residing in my heart and I heartily thank for the smiles you gave me in the past two years and hoping to receive the same amount of support in future too.

Without much delay, I welcome my sweet guests to grace the occasion...

Collaboration of colorful thoughts may have made you to pen down...

But it’s your beautiful heart that made you to reflect them out,

The day you began this enthusiastic journey of Few Miles..

You secured a special place in our heart and mind,

Though this journey has bought many challenges to you..

But at each step it come up with the glory of success and praises you,

We love this ring of sharing...

 Overwhelm and nourishes within,

 The bond of caring...

 Eliminating the everlasting solitary,

A journey you started with the love of Someone Special..

And here we accompany you with You Are Special,

The true strings of life you play...

As if your each word says, ‘Maybe its story of your life, come join me this way'

The bond of unity brightened the illusion pathway...

The laurels of completing Few Miles,

So let’s go ahead celebrating these sweet special moments,

#250* ~ The Sweet Milestone

Dear!

Writing is my passion, and I am born in this world to express my dreams, I do so as poems and prose. I do prefer poetry as it helps me to rhyme what I love to, and attain peace.

I met an angel in my dreams, fell in love with and for whom I first penned a poem titled “Sorry”. From that day onwards, I started to pen down my thoughts in my diary. Later on request by my sweet friend, I started this blog on demand and as a sweet dedication to my dream angel with the pen name, “Someone is Special”. My sweet journey started with the poem, “First Waters”, and later LEO (100) & Jingle (200) honoured me with their guest post.

After travelling 249 miles, I decided to honour my blog with three precious angels’ write-up (‘Geeta Singh of Stimulation Of The Mind’, ‘Simran Kaur of My Friendship’ and ‘Mohini Puranik of Gurukripa’).

Geeta Singh ~ a sweet sister who always encouraged me with her sweet comments. Your sweet post honours my blog, thank you Sis.

Simran Kaur ~ Hey little one, not only your blog speaks about friendship but your comments and wishes spreads friendship, thank you sweet friend for honouring my blog.

Mohini Puranik ~ a sweet friend who always supports me with her sweet comments. I haven’t met such an enthusiastic blogger, her reviews and comments are very encouraging. Thanks for honouring my blog with your sweet post and poster.

I also thank Mohini for honouring me with the invite to judge for the contest, “Grand Patriotic Poetry”, Theme: 'Independent Bharat'. I invite you all to write for the contest.

Thanks thanks thanks Geeta, Simran and Mohini for honouring my blog. Happy Man...

Here is the invite I sent to the angels…

Hi Friends,

Celebration of 250 miles ~ Simran Kaur

Fantasize feast and penned facsimile in heart,
I enliven with and interlace through,
Sermonize expressions enraptured me expressionistic,
Mesmerizing me and my thoughts with the bright hue of sensitivity,
Sometimes limerick, Sometimes lachrymal,
Dedication in heart and mind to reach at the final destination,
Covering few miles with laurels

Sweet Miles ~ Mohini Puranik

(Few Miles)
बन गया सफर प्रेम का
कुछ विशेष था, कुछ विशेष है (Special)
हर मील हर पल बना
इस सफर में special
चलना है आगे हजारों मील
बस
आपका साथ हो हर मील
