Rain drummed against the window pane of Café Mocha. She twirled her cup, leaving a faint dark ring upon the paper napkin. "Some marks never wash away," she smiled softly, her eyes holding secrets of five lost years. When I touched the still-warm ring after she walked away, our names were penned inside the circle.

A 55-Fiction is a micro-story told in exactly 55 words — no more, no less. Every word earns its place.
