Reviewed by Captain Awesome - Someone is Special: he really is!

Someone is special, this is the pen name Saravana Kumar Murugan, our NRI blogger from London, uses to write what his heart yells. And I understood the reason behind this name as soon as I opened his blog. The colourful blog took my heart away at the first look itself. Artistic choice of words and meaningful combination makes this weblog simply awesome.

But this was not the end of it, when I started reading his posts, this name started to yield more meanings to me, though I have to confess that this young dynamite is much more versed in poetry than prose.

He still needs to learn a few things in that section. So, here is the detailed review of the blog.

My Words:

I’m happy to read your detail review. Overall score of 8 out of 10 is something amazing, Thanks! I can cherish it forever. I’m glad that you love my Artistic choice of labels, theme, music and everything I have designed.

I’m already working on the grammar part, probably, I should rewrite my old posts as well, so that people will not find it irritating. Regarding narration, I felt to the point is the best, may be I should try some dramatic narration as well, which I tried in my post cute tunes. I will surely review my old works and will try to change Archive section as well. Thanks again for your time!

‘Cricket’ bores no one indeed ~ Sweet Memories!

Time can make a person lose his happiness. The happiness that a person get when they play games, hear music or read books. I missed the happiness of playing cricket, which was my day today activity during my school and college days. ‘Cricket’ bored no one indeed. Ten months had gone by! That evening I was lucky to play cricket at Dulwich Sports Ground. It was not easy to bowl, catch, and run all over the ground after a long gap, I did!

We chose to bowl first and I bowled the second over of the match. It was fantastic feeling to bowl after so many months. Six perfect balls strengthened my confidence but the same confidence led to a poor second over, and because of frustration due to dropped catches that added the fuel to the fire.

KV, the sensational fast bowler of the team bowled very well. His seam position, line, and his ball was unplayable, but the opponent team was strong and they smashed our bowlers (other than our star bowler) out of the park and to the boundary now and then, still our classy spinner Rahul took two wickets in two overs. Catches were dropped continuously, some were plum, some were high catches, but none was caught. Finally, I took a forward running catch to dismiss the star batsman of their team and we were back into the game.

We were unable to keep them silent for more than six overs. They once again started to smash our bowlers round the corner of the ground. I was given the authority to bowl the eighteenth over of the match, this time I concentrated more on line and bowled a good over, followed by it; our star bowler bowled a sensational over to restrict them to 153 runs.

It was our turn to smash the ball to the boundary but our openers fell cheap to fantastic swing bowling of Ali. It was then our KV and Arun who made the ship sail smooth. They smashed the bowlers round their corners. I was happy to stand there as umpire. I even judged two close calls perfectly; one was a catch appeal, which was actually from the pads of KV and other was Arun’s run out decision. KV also fell to some fantastic bowling in the ninth over. Rahul, joined the party and smashed the bowlers, but our run-rate was not matching the required rate. And Arun was called back as he crossed the run margin allowed.

Once he was back, the wickets started to fell, Sumit was stumped, Revanth was caught in the deep, and few were clean bowled. I joined Rahul in the 15th over, and he took the lead as he was striking well. I ran double and double, back to back, now and then and lot more risky running to match the required rate. We were progressing well, but finally, Rahul was also called back and the rest fell cheaply leaving me alone.

That's the end to a fantastic cricket match after a long time. I hope that I will continue playing cricket, once I’m back to India. I’m not a great commentator or good at writing about cricket, hope you like this one. Smiles, keep reading my blog posts, if not the new ones, at least the old and gold ones, which are being featured on facebook page.

The Untold Story - Cinderella, oh Cinderella!

Some people like to sing, some people like to listen to music, some people like to browse web and some people like to read when they are alone. Only few possess the passion to write when they are alone. I’m one amongst those few who love to write a verse or prose even during the transit time. The time that helps us to realize how much we love our dear ones. Sitting alone at the Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport is not at all easy and I can never sit idle.

All of a sudden, my heart asks me, ‘Why not to write about Cindy?’ The answer is what you going to read now. See you at Goa!

Alone in the night, I sing,
Cinderella oh Cinderella; I swing,
The earth or the alcohol, I wonder!
Who that Cinderella is? The number,
My hour hand shows is eleven,
Is she an angel from heaven?

‘Hello, Hi, Namaste, Vanakkam, Aadab,’ I say. She stares angrily.

I sit next to her and ask, ‘Shall we go to the room?’ She shouts like anything, which no one can understand.

‘Thank you for your complements! I did not mean that way. It is very cold out here and moreover it is not safe to stay here at this time of the evening.’ I say with a smile.

‘Night,’ she says irritatingly.
I laugh and say, ‘Yes, baby! Shall we go?’

‘Will you please leave me alone?’ She shouts like a banshee.

‘This beach is known as Slut’s paradise.’ I say and she shouts like anything, which only God can understand.

‘Hey chill, chill. I cannot understand your language. Can you please speak in English?’

‘Why should I? Please leave me alone.’ She shouts; this time I can understand her.

I smile and say, ‘Thanks,’ and she smiles.

‘All men are same; they wait like snakes for the right moment to bite!
’ She says with tears in her eyes.

‘Ufff I agree, but not all! There are some good,’

She shouts before I complete, ‘No one is good. Everyone wants flesh. They cheat badly in the name of love. Actually, they want to try their hands on all the girls they meet in their lifetime.’

‘I can understand your tears,’

‘I don’t want your sympathy. Will you please leave me alone?’ She says softly with wet eyes.

‘But your eyes say it all. Tell me your story.’

‘I’ve nothing to say.’ She says with tears continuously rolling down her cheeks.

I stay silent looking into her eyes, which said the untold story of her life!

‘It was not an ordinary day in my life. It shook my confidence. It changed my fate. It had torn my little heart. It made me hate my childhood. When every child said with pride, “Childhood was lovely, I wish I could go back there, I wish time would freeze.” But I think differently. I have no such wish; in fact, I never want to even think of my childhood. My parents had many friends and they would come home now and then. He was one amongst those as old as my mother’s dad; I even called him Papa many times. He was a frequent visitor to my place. When I was 12, my mother was ill; her kidneys had failed. She used to visit the nearby hospital for dialysis. Twice a week, my parents were pretty much gone from home for the whole day. All our close friends knew that Mummy was talking dialysis. One such day, my parents were away and my brother had gone outside to play. That was when he turned up. I was at home, alone. I was wearing a new dress. I was cheerfully decorating the home. Suddenly he came to my place to give a floppy containing my photos, which he had taken. When he came to give it to me, he was drunk. May be floppy was an excuse because things he did to me that day, which should not happen with any child. I cannot say whatever happened that day, but I’d still say that the way he touched me, in so many places like arrows, that even my body gave up. At some point, I started hating everything that was happening in that half an hour or 45 minutes he stayed. It was so uncomfortable for me. I froze completely. Time had stopped. I could not move a muscle not even lift a finger. I stood like a statue, he kept doing what he wanted, and he was without conscience. For about 45 minutes, he went on and then he left. After he left, I realized my lips were swollen and bleeding. That’s really not how a first kiss for any girl, right? And like I said, he is respected and trusted by my family. Every decision was past him. For months, actually for years, I cried because of this incident. After that, I was always trying to escape from him, but I was always running into him. He visited frequently after that incident. I was so angry and vexed. How could men like him? I was just the age of his granddaughter but he.’ She says with tears; by the time, I literally have tears rolling down my cheeks.

‘But could you tell your parents about him?’ I ask her with eyes puzzled.

‘No, What if they stopped dialysis?’ She asks.

‘Ufff,’

‘The worst part of my life is my childhood days after that I lost the trust I had in men. Also, my parents passed away five years ago in local riots that happened in Mumbai. All I had was my Rahul but he too used me for his sex life. He is married now and I’m left behind alone with tears. That’s why I don’t want to live.’ She cries, I too.

I freeze on hearing her untold story. I am unable to utter any word because her life was cursed. All I want is to color her life beautifully. I hug her saying, ‘Well, I can still see colors in your life. Live your life for you.’

She smiles with tears and asks, ‘Will you be my friend?’

I too smile with tears – Lifelong friendship starts from that moment as we walk holding each other hand.

PS: The character may sound real but she is not, actually. The paragraph in which the girl narrates about her childhood painful experience was taken from Satyamev Jayate Video to depict how painful child sexual abuse is. PS: There is no point in appealing to support for a social cause because it has to happen on own self interest else it will just be an appeal. Fact: Gandhiji decided to stop saying lie after watching the drama Harichandra. There might be thousand or more watched the same but did they decide to stop saying lie? It is up to the individual to decide, and to create mass awareness. Join hands only if your instinct wishes to. Satyamev Jayate!. Live a life worth a smile in others faces. Thank you!

Blank Pages - Trip to India

Blank Pages - Trip to India

When just 48 hours left for my travel, I discovered (really, that’s how it happened; like a discovery!) that my flight was cancelled and I won’t be travelling to my home country. Nothing could be more hurting than this and even tears cannot help. I wrote a status on Facebook expressing my pain and prayed to God. The AIR India strike came to an end and my flight was up. I had no words to thank God and was excited much like a seven year old getting his first video game set. In simple words, “The much excited blank pages of my life!”

The worst part of the travel was the transit time in Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport. That’s when I learnt that the price of TWO IDLI’s (worst ever IDLI's I had in my life) could costs two hundred bucks. ‘Uff, that was terrible!’ Really, I could take all this for that one moment. (To meet my Maa after eight months)

“It is really easy to make a nine months old baby smile but it is tough to make it happy and it can happen only when the baby is with the mother.” I was HAPPY much like I said above. I met my family! The following days were like seconds to me. I met Bala and spent some time with him. We went to Anna Nagar to meet his friend and to purchase dress for him. The best part was I blessed him during the marriage rituals and what else, “My best friend and my best part of life - Bala is married now…” and I wrote a status on Facebook, “A week has gone by after I landed in Chennai. I've to say that I'm enjoying a lot. The best part of the week was my best friend (Bala) is married now. I did enjoy a lot these two days. Happy!”

I bought a domain name for my blog – Few Miles Also, I had received so many encouraging emails, comments and more than 250 shares on social networking sites for my work - “Internet is Lovable Fun. Her love is My Life”, which surprisingly didn’t win. I wrote a status on my Few Miles page – “Sometimes when I lose a contest it hurts a little not because of the prize listed there but because my hard work went in vain :-(” Thanks to Leigh David and Valli for their solacing words. Because I was hurt, I could not post for Lakme Diva contest. :-(

I went to movie with my college friends and had food with them. I was happy! I visited few Temples as well. The most expected part of the trip was meeting bride and it happened on last Monday. I felt that she was not of my type or in better words; I may not fit in her life as her husband. I am happy because I am still single and I can romance with my dream girl, Isha and I will wait for that day when she (dream girl – someone special) walks in to my life to color the way she wishes. I also went to Bangalore to meet my precious roomies and my colleagues as well. I had fun watching the movie - “Kalakalapu”

The best part of the trip was spending time with my nephew Ashik a.k.a Daniel. The way he speaks can steal anyone heart in seconds. All those twelve days, I spent with him was one of the best set of days in my life. Also, I was happy to see Few Miles registering 3,00,000 page views.

The painful part of the trip was travelling back to London and penning this post recalling those sweet memories. “The best way to fill the blank pages of my life!”
