The Envelope at the Cycle Stand

"You ruled my dreams."

Morning sun slanted across the cycle stand. Sid and Isha wheeled their cycles side-by-side, exchanging quiet, knowing glances amidst the morning school rush. "You ruled my dreams," Sid whispered, slipping a folded envelope into her palm. Isha beamed, tucking it securely into her bag. "You loved me just the same in mine." "Open it only when you're alone in the dark," Sid warned with a sly wink. Curiosity flared behind her eyes. "A mystery, Sid?" "A promise," he replied softly. The morning bell rang, but neither cared. In plain daylight, their shared secret burned like a private fire.
